SpamTUNNEL is a small POP3 and SMTP proxy. Your mails get thru it before it reaches your mail client and marked as spam or legitimate email.
The filtering is done by first learning on a few samples how the spam and real mail that you receive looks like. Then, useing certian criteria, new mail is either marked as spam or as legitimate email and new data is extracted from them.
