Angband is an incredibly immersive and exciting dungeon-crawling game. It has all the elements of a classic RPG, with a great variety of monsters, enemy wizards, and powerful dragons to battle. The game is full of exploration and adventure, as you progress through the levels and increase your skills, collect loot, and improve your weapons and inventory. The challenge is intense and the rewards are satisfying, and the ultimate goal is to find and defeat the final boss. An unusually detailed and rather challenging single-player dungeon adventure game. Based on Dungeons of Moria, Angband is strongly Tolkien-influenced, but also includes much Dungeons and Dragons material. It focuses on exploration and character development; there is in fact no plot and only one great quest: to find and defeat Morgoth, Lord of Darkness.
Perhaps Angband's strongest suit is the enormous variety of variants it has inspired.
